Tulip Fields Tutorial Pt.4

We are back with part four of our Tulip Fields quilt journey! In this video, we are getting closer to the finish line by taking our gorgeous tulip blocks and officially transforming them into our rag quilt!

I'll show you exactly how to layer up your blocks—using a cotton backing, two layers of flannel, and our pieced rows on top—before quilting them together. You can totally stitch in the ditch if you want, but I’m going to share a simple, stress-free method of just sewing right beside the seam (because that's how I like it!). I'll show you how to securely attach your rows to prevent any “ballooning” once we get to clipping. (And remember, always backstitch when you start and stop, because grandma said so!)

Once our rows are quilted and trimmed, we’ll start attaching them together, pretty side out, to create our classic rag quilt seams. From there, it's time for the true test of patience: clipping! I’ll share a genius tip from one of my students on how to make the clipping process so much more manageable, plus a brilliant trick using a boar bristle brush to make those ragged edges look absolutely perfect.
