Timeless Triangles Tutorials

Thanks to a fabulous free pattern from Missouri Star, we’re taking this beautiful, classic design and putting our own cozy spin on it by turning it into a fast, fun rag quilt. I’ll show you a super simple way to piece these blocks using 6-inch and 5-inch squares so you can skip the tricky half-square triangle math and get right to the fun part.

In this video, I walk you through the entire process—from centering your triangles and sewing your blocks to quilting your fabric-and-flannel sandwiches. We’ll arrange our blocks to make sure the beautiful prints pop, and then join them into rows of four with our wide, raw-edge seams facing out. Once our blocks are in rows, we join them together, making sure to match up our seams perfectly (remember to pinch it, pleat it, or pull it!), and of course, backstitch every time just like grandma said!

It is such a fun, beginner-friendly quilt that comes together beautifully and feels so wonderfully heavy and cozy once it's finished.
