No Point Quilt Star Tutorial

Let's go make this no point quilt star! If you've always wanted to make quilt stars but find matching up those perfect points totally intimidating, this genius method takes all the stress out of the process. I'll show you how to build the four star point blocks by taking your 6.5-inch background squares, laying your 5.5-inch contrast squares on the corners, drawing a diagonal line, and simply sewing straight down that line. (And just to clarify, the background and center pieces are indeed 6.5 inches—if I accidentally said 6 inches at the beginning of the video, y'all just forgive me!) After you sew, you just clip off the excess, press it open, and repeat on the opposite corner.

Once you have your four star point blocks pressed and ready, it’s time to lay them out around your 6.5-inch center square and fill in the four outer corners with your remaining solid 6.5-inch squares. We are going to sew this together row by row, pretty side to pretty side, using a simple quarter-inch seam. (And always remember to backstitch when you start and stop, because grandma told me if I didn't, my stuff would fall apart!) This comes together so quickly and finishes as a big, beautiful 18-inch block that is absolutely perfect for a throw pillow, a wall flag, or a festive quilt for America's 250!
