How to Ship Your Quilt for Long-Arming!
You’ve cut your fabric, pieced your rows, and finally finished that beautiful quilt top. Now comes the most exciting part—shipping it off to get long-armed!
I use the wonderful long-arming service at Missouri Star Quilt Company, and I wanted to walk you through exactly how easy the process is.
Step 1: The Online Setup
First, you’ll head to their website and enter your quilt's dimensions [00:10]. You’ll then get to choose your quilting pattern. You can go with a standard or deluxe design, but I personally love choosing "Quilter’s Choice" [00:44]. These ladies do this all day, every day, and I trust their expert eyes to pick the perfect pattern for my project!
Step 2: Thread & Binding Choices
Next, you’ll pick your thread color (or let the experts choose again!) and decide on your backing and binding [01:02].
-
Backing: You can send your own or purchase one from them.
-
Binding: You can have it machine-stitched, hand-stitched, or choose to do it yourself once it’s returned [01:26].
Step 3: Packing Your Box
Once you’ve completed your purchase and received your confirmation email, it’s time to pack! Make sure to include:
-
Your pieced backing [02:35]
-
Your finished quilt top [02:42]
-
Your binding (cut to 2.5 inches) [02:51]
What’s Next?
I’ve just shipped my "Little Ladies" quilt off, and I’ll be tracking it every single day! I’m actually heading to Missouri in a few weeks for our retreat, and the team there is letting me film the "behind the scenes" magic. Stay tuned to see how they unbox, choose designs, and transform our quilt tops into finished masterpieces [03:12].
