Cuddle & Minky Blanket Tutorial

If you are completely obsessed with cozy Cuddle fabric, then let's go make this precious blanket! In this tutorial, we are tackling a complete Cuddle kit using the super fun and fast "stitch and flip" method. It can seem a little intimidating working with minky fabrics, but my biggest tip is to simply lengthen your stitch—it’s a total game changer! I'll walk you through laying your center panel onto your backing, straight stitching it down, and then adding your beautifully soft side strips right on top. You just lay your strips pretty side to pretty side, stitch down the edge, and flip it open! (And of course, remember to always backstitch when you start and stop, because grandma said so!)

Once our top and backing are beautifully stitched and flipped into place, I'll show you my simple method for adding the binding to finish off those edges—no special diagonal cuts or tricky angles required! I like to line up all my raw edges, tucking the tail to avoid any exposed seams, and just sew around the blanket, pivoting at the corners to get those beautiful mitered edges. Even without any fancy tools or a walking foot, this soft, sweet baby gift came together in just about 43 minutes. Grab your favorite Cuddle kit, pin those stretchy layers, and sew along with me in the Cuddle & Minky Blanket Tutorial!
