Alice in Wonderland Party Table Decor DIY

Let's step away from our quilts for just a minute to make the most precious table decor for our Mad Hatter tea party! I found a little bucket at Family Dollar for $1.75 and thought it would be the absolute perfect base for a whimsy Mad Hatter hat. I'll show you how to cut out two cardboard circles—one for the top and one for the brim—and cover them both in two different, fun colors of fabric using just a hot glue gun. The trick to covering your cardboard and your bucket is just going slow and steady, gluing in small sections to keep everything nice and reasonably flat!

Now for the really fun part: decorating! I ended up with a slightly uneven seam at the top of my hat, but we are just covering that right up with some beautiful gathered ribbon and lace. Since I firmly believe that if a little is good, then a lot is better, we are going all out on embellishments! I added some fuzzy rabbit ears I scored on Easter clearance, a lovely vine of roses, a playing card, and a bright, colorful figure-eight canvas bow topped with some fun buttons. It turned out so wonderfully gaudy, and it is just the second of ten we need to make for our party tables!
