Hand Towel
Share
As a kid, my mom made hand towels that had a crocheted loop at the top that folded over and buttoned down to hang from, anywhere, I guess. Ours always hung from the front of the oven, so that’s where my hand towel still hangs today. Everyone has and uses a hand towel in their kitchen. If you’re like me, you need a million, because I can’t cook without it looking like the pantry exploded.
When it comes to gifts, the hand towel seems like the perfect thing to give to just about everyone. I have used these as wedding gifts, retirement gifts, teacher gifts, and just little happies. They only take a few minutes to make and are a great standalone gift or addition to another gift. Who doesn’t need another hand towel and sprucing up something that is already useful is a win-win. In this tutorial we are taking a store bought hand towel and adding a little fabric to make it decorative.
This hand towel is something you can make in just a few minutes and are a great scrap buster project. They don’t use much fabric, and you can make them to match your mood or the season. This is also great practice for your zig-zag stitch. The zig-zag stitch serves two purposes. First, it keeps your fabric from fraying. Second, it is a little more decorative than a straight stitch.

The best compliment is walking into the home of a friend and seeing something you’ve made proudly displayed. It is the greatest gift ever and the easiest to make! Get to making and giving!
